Curation for REEDS, held at Bolton Socialist Club on 27th February 2025. A collaboration with The Commission for New and Old Art.
A thematic follow up to The Commission’s VALVES the previous October. This event featured readings from Maeve Thompson, Connor Seed and Tilly Foulkes; experimental call-and-response between clarinet (JC Leisure) and illustrator (Aous Hamoud), of Sound Artist Network; “Shakespeare with Microphones”, a reading of Troillus and Cressida by a cast of 7 (including myself) into a single shared microphone; and a Commission finale featuring a variety of reed instruments performed in response to poems read by audience members via loudhailer.
Performing artists had travelled to Bolton from as far as New York City and Berlin.
A limited run risograph print of the event’s poster (designed by myself) was distributed at the event in red, orange and yellow.
